SELF - ASSEMENT 1
I think it is going to be a fun experience participating in a Japanese language class, and a good exercise in that we need to prepare ourselves for the challenges that we are going to face. I think my learning ability will get better overtime but trying to learn the full sentences and how to pronounce certain words will be the hardest for me. My language speaking is pretty clear, and I speak quite well so I know getting the hang of it will be pretty easy. For me to learn certain things it depends on what it is for me to pick it up fast or slow. I'm the type of person that needs it to be demonstrated to me first while telling. I love to learn and get excited about most activities because it brings me closer to learning about that activity and experiencing it more. A similar class that I took was Asian American History and we were basically learning about how the Asians were being treated while they immigrated into the US. From last year learning about how people treated the Asian immigrants, calling them names, etc. it also brought me closer to learning about their culture, such as the way they speak, dress, act, and educate themselves and others about what their lifestyle was back then versus now. So, what brought me to being more interested in learning about the Japanese language is because I want to learn more about their culture of speaking the language. I think it is a cool fun fact to have as an African American to speak another language because that really interests a lot of people because it is part of a skill to have and not a lot of people can do that. I don't, or I want to learn how to speak the language completely, but I think it would be great to know some words and sentences about speaking Japanese. My dad is an expert at speaking Spanish, but he never taught me and my brothers in his lifetime, but I've always wanted to speak a different language no matter what kind it is.
I'm so glad you're in this class
